As seen from the title of the advertisement, it basically tells the main message.
This advertisement is mainly to encourage young kids especially to find their true passion like how Lin Dan, the legendary badminton player found his talent. He encourages kids to try and through trying they might be able to find their true passion.
This advertisement however, is suppose to promote the latest badminton gear but it is not obvious as the entire video is in black and white. Therefore, certain parts of the video are overly exaggerated.
For example, when Lin Dan pulls the badminton racquet out from the bag as well as when he hits the shuttle cock. It is in slow motion to emphasize on the item.
The target markets for this ads are young children, badminton players and Lin Dan’s fans.
For the improvements, we think that, since the video is in black and white, therefore, it is understood why the over exaggeration on the products take place.
However, if the audiences did not read the description box they probably would not know that Yonex had a new collaboration with Lin Dan with a new series of products.
If the video is watched without the audio probably the items are more obvious. Therefore, I suggest that at the end of the video they can briefly show the items that they are promoting or show words like ‘LinDan x Yonex’ to make the audiences curious and look more into it.
Yet, one of the group member thought that Yonex is trying to promote their waterproof item as they emphasize that the sweat slides off the shoes instead of being absorbed. That is the only difference that we could get from this ads.
